What happened: Scotland and Finland’s researchers have developed a new gadget named “DogPhone.” DogPhone allows pets to call their owners by sending a softball toy that signals to their owner’s laptops. The lead researcher has said that their research also enables animals to improve their well-being and help dogs with separation anxiety. Dr. Ilyena Hirskyj-Douglas noted, “There are hundreds of internet-connected smart toys on the market that dg owners can buy for their pets.”
Details: DogPhone’s lead researcher has also experimented with the device on his dog named Zack. During the experiment, Zack made eighteen accidental calls to its owner Ilyena. However, as experiments progressed, the team was happy with DogPhone’s sensors. DogPhone has multiple uses, including helping dog owners connect with their dogs on an hourly basis. Dr. Ilyena Hirskyj is also planning to develop more dog-centered gadgets to assist the dogs rather than the owners.
