What happened: Newly appointed chairman of Pakistan Television Naeem Bukhari has hinted at total ‘blackout’ of the opposition on PTV. While talking to reporters outside Supreme Court, Naeem Bukhari confirmed the rumors.
He was asked whether the opposition will be given equal representation on PTV?
To which he replied, “No, PTV is a state-run television and it will only represent state narrative.
Side note: Back in PML-N regime, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf insisted on giving equal coverage to the opposition on PTV and even held a press conference at the Press Information Department. Interestingly, the PTI manifesto promises to transform PTV on the lines of BBC.
