Nearly 10 arrested for propaganda tweets against Pak Army by the FIA Cybercrime wing

What happened: Over the weekend, a series of tweets with hashtags against Pakistan’s Army was witnessed on Twitter and other social media platforms. However, on April 12, the COAS and DG ISPR took notice of such campaigns and said,  “Military shouldn’t be brought to such politics, and we respect every institution.”  Subsequently, on April 12, Samaa English and Friday Times confirmed the news of 8 arrests of activists who tweeted against the Pakistan Army.  Details: Sama quoted the news as,  “The FIA has arrested a mastermind and at least six other members of his network for launching a Twitter trend against the Pakistan Army, in the wake of recent political developments in the country.”  Whereas, the arrested also belonged to a specific political party, as the investigative reporter Zahid Gishkori claimed. The arrests were made from Lahore’s Sabzazar area and the mastermind behind the propaganda was identified as  “Maqsood Arif.”  More: At the same time, a few arrests from Islamabad, Karachi, Multan, and Lahore were made as the FIA Cybercrime wing claims to have identified 2,000 Twitter accounts involved in hate speech and campaigns.
