Navjot Singh Sidhu calls for opening the Lahore-Amritsar route

What happened: The cricketer-turned Indian politician Navjot Singh Sidhu wants the authorities to open the Lahore-Amritsar route. During his visit to the Kartarpur corridor, he requested the Indian PM to open the border between the two Punjab provinces. While talking to the press, Navjot Singh Sidhu said,  “When Karachi-Mumbai route can be opened for the rich. Why can’t the Lahore-Amritsar route be opened for common Punjabis?”

Details:   Navjot Singh Sidhu has also urged the prime ministers to open the trading corridors between the two countries. Talking to the reporters,  “The opening of the Punjab border for cross-border trade will be a golden opportunity.”  Navjot Singh has deemed it as a golden opportunity to change the lives of millions, as there is a 275,000 crores’ trade potential. Navjot Singh Sidhu also questioned,  “If you want to change lives in Punjab. We should open the borders. Why should we go through Mundra Port? Why not from here, where it is only 21 km to Pakistan.”
