Youth shot dead by ‘drunk’ cop over a petty issue in Lahore

What happened : Policeman allegedly under the influence shot a youth dead over a trivial issue in the Shahdara area on Sunday. The Police reported that the 18-year-old victim Zain had an exchange of words with Constable Waseem, following which Waseem shot him dead and fled the scene. The boy’s body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy and a case was registered against the constable on the complaint of the victim’s brother. The victim’s mother told the media that her son was shot 18 times. She added that the policeman was so utterly out of his senses that he continued to kick her unconscious son, even after emptying his gun. The arrest: The police started conducting raids to arrest the fleeing constable and his accomplice. A police team on suspicion had intercepted two suspects at a checkpoint in Shafiqabad upon which there was an exchange of fire resulting in the injury of one of the policemen. Eventually, they were arrested, and the mother of the victim has since demanded the Chief Minister to take notice and ensure justice for the untimely death of her son.
