Will the government increase taxes on freelancers and content creators? 

What happened:  No such development has been reported by the government, though a report by a private publication claimed that the federal government is planning to impose heavy taxation on online content creators and freelancers. Quoting sources from the FBR, the report read,  “Taxes would be imposed implementing strict conditions of the International Monetary Fund.”  Details:  At the same time, it was reported that the subsidies and perks available at their disposal would also be taken away. Whereas, the report was further quoted,  “Offices of online platforms and social media applications would be established in Pakistan. Earning through social media apps would be made in Pakistani currency.”  Not just this, but another suggestion was revealed in the report that added,  “enhancing tax on income of more than one million rupees a year, earning on social media and online freelancing, earning of online games.”
