What Is Virat Kohli Doing Right?

Share

Assuming you don’t live under a rock, you probably watched the Pakistan vs India match on Sunday.

Well, at least as much as you could bear to watch. The Indian cricket team’s performance has been particularly impressive this year, and a lot of people credit the current team captain-Virat Kohli. Kohli has led India in more than 70 ODIs and won more than 50 of them. He has more than a 70% win percentage as captain. The question is, what is he doing right?

FITNESS FIRST

Fitness seems to be a priority for Kohli. “I want to be able to play this kind of cricket even when I am 34-35. You know, that’s why I train so much because I am a guy who likes to play with intensity. Once that is gone, I don’t know what I am gonna do on the field.” Yes, we can tell.

NO CHEAT DAYS

Kohli follows a strict diet throughout the year. While many other athletes do the same, Kohli has one golden principle: He does not believe in cheat days. I mean, if it helps win the World Cup…

BATTING

Not only is Kohli a skilled batsman, but his team generally has a great batting line up. We have Kohli as their number one, followed closely by Rohit Sharma. I mean between the two of them, they scored 217/336 runs in Sundays game. A dynamic duo if we ever saw one.

BOWLING STRATEGY

Virat Kohli uses his spin bowlers very cleverly in the middle of the innings. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuvzendra Chahal are the main wicket-takers and they provide Team India with the wickets they need. They are also currently standing at number 7 and 8 respectively in ICC player rankings.

FIELD TACTICS

Kohli’s strategy for setting the field is exceptional. He sets his fielding according to the bowler’s requirement and batsman’s strength. According to Kohli, they arrive in the ground as a team and play as a team which is their greatest strength.

ANUSHKA SHARMA

Don’t ask us how she’s relevant, but we can’t really credit Kohli for everything now, can we? Besides, what would any team be without their supporters?

According to Kohli, if the team plays well together, they can beat any country in the world, and that is the confidence they have exuded so far in the initial games of the CWC19. While we appreciate the Indian Teams’ efforts so far, we just have one last thing to add:

Pakistan Zindabad!
