On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court reversed it’s verdict on the maintainability of a petition accusing the Prime Minister of contempt of court.

According to the petition which was filed by Advocate Saleemullah Khan on Monday, the former cricketer had commit ‘serious contempt’ regarding his recent remarks of the judiciary.

During an inaugural ceremony of the Havelian-Mansehra section of the Hazara motorway at Havelian, the PM urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa and senior judge of the Supreme Court Justice Gulzar Ahmed to restore public confidence in the judiciary.

These statements were the main point of contention in the petition as they had come just days after the Lahore High Court issued a verdict allowing former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to travel to London under medical grounds.

When asked what issue Saleemullah had with the statements during the proceedings, he claimed that the premier had ‘ridiculed the court’ and further added that they ‘welcome criticism, but there is a difference between criticism and contempt’
