Users lose NFTs worth millions as OpenSea got hacked

What happened: On February 20, international publications reported that the largest NFT marketplace, OpenSea, was hacked and nearly 32 users lost NFTs worth 1.7 million dollars. OpenSea’s Co-founder and CEO, Devin Finzer, claimed, “It is a phishing attack, confirming that 32 users have lost NFTs so far.” At the same time, BusinessStandards.com quotes the development, “He said rumors that this was a $200 million hack are false and the attacker has $1.7 million of ETH in his wallet from selling stolen NFTs.”

Details: Subsequently, it is pertinent to mention that OpenSea is the biggest marketplace for NFTs and has millions of users. On the other hand, in a tweet, the CEO wrote, “We are actively investigating rumors of an exploit associated with OpenSea related smart contracts. This appears to be a phishing attack originating outside of OpenSea’s website..” However, the magnanimity of the cyber attack is yet to be determined, but it is believed that one of the workers leaked user information.

More: BusinessStandards.com quotes, “The hack happened as OpenSea announced a new smart contract upgrade with a one-week deadline to delist inactive NFTs on the platform.” Whereas, the CEO has urged users to report to him on Twitter to cater to the complaints.
