Lahore is among 66 cities around the world to be designated as ‘Creative Cities’ under UNESCO.
Lahore is the only city from Pakistan featured on the list, and it has been recognised for its contribution to literature. As part of UNESCO’s Creative Cities, Lahore will be expected to make creativity and creative economy a priority in urban development plans in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. “ All over the world, these cities, each in its way, make culture the pillar, not an accessory, of their strategy, ” said UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay. “ This favours political and social innovation and is particularly important for the young generations .” Read more from ProperGaanda: This Halloween, Burn Calories By Watching Horror Movies
