Turkish man records longest Covid-19 infection of 14 months and remains alive

What happened: On February 14, it was reported that Muzaffer Kaysan, a resident of Istanbul, recorded the longest Covid-19 infection as he has tested positive for the virus for 14 straight months. Muzaffer spent nine months in an Istanbul hospital and five alone at his flat. Turkish doctors claim that the 56 year old recorded the most prolonged continuous infection, possibly due to a weakened immune system from cancer.

Details:   In an interview with Reuters, Muzaffer said,  “I guess this is the female version of COVID – she has been obsessed with me, as I again testes positive for the virus.”  Muzaffer has also been separated from the outside world and his granddaughter. On the other hand, Muzzaffer’s son said,  “My father has always been a positive person, just not in this way. We kept saying how positive he is and now the guy turned positive for Covid and can’t go back to negative.”

More: At the same time, Reuters reported a doctor from the Acibadem Hospital saying,  “The case of a patient testing positive for 441 days is not something that has been reported until today.”  Whereas, according to the Turkish guidelines, a person is not eligible for the vaccine until he is fully recovered from the virus; though, Muzaffer has urged authorities to re-visit the SOPs regarding the vaccine.
