Prime Minister asks everyone to “stay strong” through this time of inflation

Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday urged citizens to “stay strong” in the face of rising inflation and promised that the country “will make it through this time”.

Prices of basic commodities have risen multiple times since the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) took control of the government. The most recent increase came right before Ramzan. Prices of petroleum products also saw a massive hike last week, causing the price of petrol to increase by Rs9.42 and kerosene by Rs7.46 per litre.

The Sri Lankan government yesterday ordered mosques to crackdown on extremists and to submit copies of sermons in new fallout from the Easter suicide bombings.

The country has been shook by the April 21 attacks by jihadists. The attack left 258 dead, and more 500 injured. The Ministry of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs said mosques must not be used for radicalizing congregations.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Neymar was banned for three matches yesterday along with a further two-match ban suspended for lashing out at a fan. This all occurred after the club’s shock defeat in the French Cup final. The ban will go into effect from May 13, allowing Neymar to appear for the French champions against Angers in Ligue 1 today.

Neymar swung at an abusive opposing fan while climbing the steps to receive his French Cup final losers’ medal following the shock defeat to Rennes on penalties last month.

Everyone is a Game of Thrones fan, every Taylor Swift. The 29-year-singe started binge watching the HBO show back in 2016. Many fans noticed that her lead single, Look What You Made Me Do, featured a kill list drawn up by Maisie Williams’ character, Arya Stark.

EyeAutomate win’s first prize at Pakistan’s biggest tech conference

Superior University’s startup, EyeAutomate , won first prize Momentum Tech. They competed against hundreds of participating tech startups from across Pakistan. The startup won a cash prize of PKR 500,000, an electric bike, OLX advertisement worth $20,000, Facebook Advertisement worth $5,000 and one-year brand consultancy for Acceleration Program by OLX.

EyeAutomate is Pakistan’s first startup to create an eye gaze control tracking software that enables the physically disabled to carry out activities with the movement of their eyes.
