Last night, 4 policemen lost their lives when a blast ripped through a market in Quetta’s Satellite Town. 2 policemen and 7 civilians have also been injured in the blast, while a police van was also damaged. The blast, according to DIG Cheema, was the result of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside.
The nature of the blast has not yet been determined and it is not clear if it was a targeted attack. This is a developing story we shall update you.
Sri Lanka imposed a nationwide six-hour night curfew and banned Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms on Monday after anti-Muslim riots gripped several towns in the latest fallout from the Easter bombings.
Christian groups attacked Muslim-owned shops in a sign of the ongoing religious tension in Sri Lanka since the April 21 attacks by suicide bombers on three hotels and three churches which left 258 dead. A night curfew in several towns north of Colombo was lifted at dawn, but reimposed 10 hours later as tensions were fuelled by persistent rumours of mob violence. The curfew was later extended across the island, police said in a statement.

The Minister of Science and Technology announced that the lunar calendar will be available soon, along with an app. The purpose of said calendar to help with the moon sighting. This will help know what dates eid will be on, and so on.
He further informed that he has invited religious scholars to become a part of the committee he created to help in the preparation of the lunar calendar. He also urged for providing the religious leaders with government jobs of 14 to 16-grade pay scale. Fawad previously said that spending 4 million rupees for the moon sighting every year in unwise and that the Ruet-e-Hilal committee members should sight the crescent voluntarily.
