What happened: After her husband abandoned their family, Shazia Naheed, who currently resides in Faislabad, is determined to make ends meet by driving a rickshaw so that her three children, two daughters and a son, can get an education.
Back-story : Shazia Naheed, a mother of three, was abandoned by her husband two years ago. While talking to ARY News, Shazia explained that her husband may have assumed that if he abandoned her and her children, they would beg for help. On the contrary, she earns and ensures that her children are not harmed. “I worked as a housekeeper, a hawker, and a merchant,” Shazia explained, “But none of these businesses helped me make enough money to make it through the day,” she added.
The rickshaw: Shazia takes bookings of families with school-going children, and she provides them with a pick-up and drop-off service. Her neighbours rely on her to safely transport them around the city for a variety of errands.
What else: Shazia’s children consider her to be both, their mother and father, who provides for all of their needs. Her eldest daughter said, “Our mother ensures that none of us suffer because of a lack of resources, and she takes care of everything on her own.”
