What does Vceela do: Akeel Khalid founded the company in 2016 to connect talented artisans with local and international markets. Vceela wanted to support established entrepreneurs and even the upcoming ones. The jobs they created helped not only in terms of employment but also helped save the dying arts and culture. The company has enabled the artisans to export their products and crafts independently through the use of digital technology. Vceela is now trying to implement these successful models throughout the cities and villages of Pakistan. They are now operating from about 223 villages all over Pakistan. How have they empowered individuals: Vceela has been able to empower and foster the target market which is in terms of local artisans. It has especially empowered women entrepreneurs as financial independence for them in the long run is crucial. This will also allow the earning of income and provision of various kinds of opportunities. 71 % of Vceela’s artisans are home based women. The company was able to employ women through which online shops have been introduced. For instance, Amna Bibi is one such entrepreneur who was digitally illiterate and was helped by Vceela to be trained in digital technology which has now allowed her to set up her own digital shop. Vceela has also been in connection with differently-abled individuals to assist them with the creation of their own business start-ups. This has resulted in enhancing links between several cultures which have brought about reconciliation and harmonious relationships between them.
