What happened: A Lahore man named Muhammad Ali calls his house’s rooftop ‘Bird Hut’ as it is home to 20,000 birds which are worth Rs 70 lacs. In an exclusive interview with Urdu Point, Ali tells host Abdullah Khan that it took him 16-17 years to arrange a proper setup and collect birds of different breeds. Details: Ali recalls that in the beginning he used to keep the birds in his bedroom or drawing room and gradually shifted them elsewhere. He says that it’s not just any hobby, but a passion like this requires hard work, “You should know about the breeds. In the start, I suffered a lot of loss as I didn’t know much about it so I did my research and learned how one should take care of his birds.” Speaking of expenses, Ali said that he’d sell the offsprings of his birds and then invest that in money in buying their food and more birds, “Main inse paisa leta zarur hun lekin wohi paisa inpe hi lagata hun.” The bird lover can’t even remember how many types he owns now, “But among these I have lovebirds, cockatoos, doves, pineapple conure, suncheek conure, etc.” Ali says that he collects all these birds because he loves to, “I am no businessman, this is just a hobby of mine and I enjoy it.”
