What happened: We didn’t care for gender, just wanted a grandchild; these are the words of an upset Indian couple who is suing their only son and his wife for failing to provide them with a grandchild. Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad, aged 61 and 57, respectively, claim they spent all of their savings on their son, including his pilot training and a ‘luxurious’ wedding. Details: The couple seeks $650,000 (around 5 crore INR) in compensation if no grandchild is born within a year. The complaint was filed on the grounds of “mental harassment.” Mr Prasad claimed he had spent all of his funds on his son, paying $65,000 to send him to the United States for flight training in 2006. They further stated that they planned his marriage in 2016, hoping they’d have a “grandchild to play with” when they retired. What’s next: A court will hear the couple’s plea, which was filed in Haridwar, on May 17. Their son and his wife are yet to comment on the matter.
