What happened: In support of a classmate who was just diagnosed with cancer, ten classmates shaved their hair. Liam aged 13, is undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma three weeks ago. Details: The boys, who are all in Year 9 at Chesterfield’s Outwood Academy Hasland Hall, are raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The students were described as “wonderful” by the school. Billy, 13, who has known Liam since they were in elementary school, said: “I just wanted to do something to help the organisation generate some funds.” The group further share that they tried to keep it a secret from Liam in order to surprise him, but he found out about the fundraising website. What else: The group has so far raised about £2,000 in donations. “They were all quite upset about Liam’s illness, so I suggested them to do something for charity,” said their teacher Carolyn Hardwick.
