What happened: After India gave Sikh pilgrims permission to cross the border they started to arrive in Pakistan to visit one of their holiest shrines ahead of the religion’s founder’s birth anniversary. Details :
The Kartarpur corridor is a visa-free border that allows Indian Sikhs to visit Guru Nanak’s tomb. It is 4 kilometres within Pakistan. The corridor reopened in 2019 to commemorate Nanak’s 550th birthday, but was forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic last year. Haji Ashraf, a Pakistani officer said dozens of Sikh men and women from India crossed into Pakistan. More :
India also opened the Wagah border crossing in Punjab for the celebrations in Kartarpur.
