The issue of inflation is what keeps me up at night, says Prime Minister Imran Khan during live telethon

What happened: On Jan 23, Prime Minister Imran Khan answered live on-air questions from the general public via live telethon programme called “Aap Ka Wazir-e-Azam, Aap Kay Saath,” during which he confessed that the single issue keeping him awake at night is inflation. Details: In response to a query on rising prices, the premiere said it was the single issue that “keeps him awake at night.” Emphasising that the present inflation is a ‘global problem,’ PM Khan added, “When we came into government, we had to deal with a massive current account deficit, due to this, the prices of imports soared drastically.”  What else: PM Khan added that the globe was experiencing a supply shortfall as a result of the coronavirus epidemic. “During the pandemic, the US spent $6,000 billion on people’s welfare, and we spent $8 billion. Both countries’ situations must be compared.” He went on to say that the United Kingdom and other European countries were experiencing record inflation as well.
