Tanveer Ahmed, Pakistan’s first visually impaired wins silver medal at World Archery Championship

What happened:   On February 27, the country’s first visually impaired archer Tanveer Ahmed won the first-ever silver medal for Pakistan in the Visually Impaired Category of the World Archery Para Championship. At the same time, Tanveer Ahmad is Asia’s first visually impaired archer to win big at the World Archery Para Championship.  Details: Tanveer Ahmed won the quarter-final against Italy’s archer and then won the semi against the Australian Newberry. However, Tanveer lost gold against the two times World Champion Ruben Vanholbek but became the first to secure the silver medal in Asia.  More: Subsequently, Tanveer Ahmed and Waleed Aziz were the first visually impaired Pakistani archers to compete outside Pakistan. The Asian Paralympic Committee quotes the two archers: “ We have come this far and I want to make the most of this opportunity. The journey has just begun and there’s a long way to go.”
