Students protest against being made to sit for exams on campus amid coronavirus pandemic

Share

What happened: Students are protesting on social media against their educational institution, stating they have to resort to cramming the exam syllabus and allegedly sit for exams on campus that may violate coronavirus SOP’s.

Earlier developments: Last week, renowned educational institution Beaconhouse School System informed students of their exam dates only 9 days prior to the exam, as per statements made by students to ProperGaanda (the students have wished to remain anonymous). The students state the midterm exams play a crucial role in the finalisation of the Cambridge O/A Level grades. The further said that they had to resort to social media to protest the unfair timetable forcing them to cover an entire year’s worth of syllabus in a week and attending two exams in a day.

Students from Beaconhouse all over the country also reported that they are being demanded to give exams on-campus whether they have contracted the virus or not. Social media accounts that cropped up in the aftermath of the decision stated the institution was foregoing to focus on the physical and mental health of its students to conduct exams.

What’s next: A social media page dedicated to bringing attention to the struggle of the students was created where students from various cities and campuses have reported similar experiences. Students are urging the authorities to take action as the school administration fails to heed their concerns.
