What happened: The Sindh High Court has directed the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide CNIC to single mothers who don’t know the whereabouts of the father. Details: In an interview with a differently-abled person, Rubina she shared how she was unable to get herself registered. This was due to the fact that she was raised by a single mother. Her father abandoned his wife and a young Rubina years ago. He never returned. Her mother, who was lucky enough to have a government position, raised her. Rubina turned 18 and went to a local NADRA office to get her CNIC. She was told the card would not be given unless she provided both of her parents’ records. More : Advocate, Usman Farooq said the judgement will apply to similar circumstances, and children with single parents will be entitled to obtain CNICs by presenting only a single parent’s record. Rubina now has the opportunity to work for the government thanks to the SHC order. Rubina’s mother is due to retire from the Department of Education, and the position could be offered to her.
