Series of bans: Taliban restricts women and men from dining together in Herat 

What happened: Riazullah Seerat, the Taliban official at the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice Ministry, announced that the authorities had instructed men and women to be segregated in restaurants. Subsequently, the Taliban officials have also announced a ban on the women and men from visiting parks together in Afghanistan’s western city of Herat. Details: t is pertinent to mention that this is not the first restriction that the Taliban have imposed as it is part of a series of restrictions since they came to power in August. In an interview with AFP, the Taliban official announced,  “We have verbally warned the restaurant owners that the rule even applies if they are husband and wife.”  On the other hand, the Taliban official noted,  “We have told women to visit parks on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Other days are kept for men who can visit for leisure and exercise.”  The perspective of a restaurant owner: One of the restaurant managers in Herat is quoted by a publication,  “We have to follow the order, but it has a very negative impact on our business.”
