US senator Bernie Sanders on Tuesday called out the far right extremist attacks by Israel’s forces in Jerusalem and Gaza. Sanders criticized the actions, calling them an unrequired escalation to the Israel-Palestine crisis. Recent spiraling and aggressive fueling of the crisis emerged as a result of the Friday attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli police, leading to mass injuries and causalities on the Palestinian front. The attack was preceded by heightened tensions in the region, following settlement breaches by the Israeli Jews in East Jerusalem.
Palestinian children should not have to grow up under the constant violence and oppression of occupation, as so many do, and have done.
US senator Bernie Sanders
I am extremely concerned by the growing conflict in Israel and Palestine. Once again we are seeing how the irresponsible actions of government-allied right-wing extremists in Jerusalem can escalate quickly into devastating war.

Bernie Sanders condemned the US involvement and support for Israel extremism, and called on the political leaders to stop the carnage caused by US allied forces. Sanders called on Washington for an immediate cease-fire, and put an end to the illicit settlements and proactive actions taken by the Israeli forces. He further added that restraint must be exercised immediately, and talks should be reconvened to end this grave conflict once and for all.
The United States must call for an immediate cease-fire and an end to provocative and illegal settlement activity. And we must also recommit to working with Israelis and Palestinians to finally end this conflict.

Sanders adds on to the already extensive list of celebrities, politicians and media hosts who have criticized the recent escalation by Israel, calling it a breach of human rights. Many international organizations have signed petitions to end the conflict, whilst offering support for all affected, in particular, children.
