On Wednesday, a security guard seriously injured a bank manager accusing him of blasphemy. The guard’s actions were later applauded by locals who greeted him with slogans including, “Behead those who insult the Prophet”.
The security guard, identified as Ahmad Nawaz, shot Malik Imran Hanif, branch manager of National Bank of Pakistan, accusing him of blasphemy after a heated argument. The incident took place in Qidabad, Khushab, Punjab where Nawaz labeled Malik Hanif as an Ahmadi who disrespected the Prophet (PBUH).
The story was highlighted by the South Asia Media Research Institute, which tweeted a video from the bank manager’s uncle who stated the security guard was using the blasphemy allegation to settle a personal vendetta.
Another video from Qidabad showed Ahmad Nawaz standing on top of a local police station, waiting to hundreds who had gathered to laud him.
