Second Suicide Bombing Over 24 Hours In Afghanistan Kills At Least 20

A powerful truck bomb went off near a hospital in Southern Afghanistan this morning, killing around 20 civilians and wounding 95 others.

The Taliban have taken accountability for the attack in Qalat, the capital of the southern Zabul province. They have issued a statement saying the target was a nearby government intelligence building, however it was the hospital that took most of the damage.

This is the second suicide bombing in over 24 hours, following the events in in eastern Afghanistan, where a suicide bomber and armed gunmen took over a government building.

The Taliban have been executing regular attacks in Afghanistan since peace talks with the US failed earlier this month; according to the Taliban, US President Donald Trump purposely sabotaged the finalised deal. Two blasts went off on Tuesday, killing at least 48 people and wounding dozens more.
