Saudi national divorces wife for blocking him on WhatsApp

What happened: On March 15, international publications, including Gulf News, reported that a Saudi national husband divorced his newlywed wife after he found out that the wife had blocked him on WhatsApp. DailyPakistan quoted the development,  “The incident occurred last month after the man moved the Civil Status Court in Jeddah for divorce.”  Details: The incident was taken to court. The husband claimed that he wanted to end the relationship. Eventually, the wife was ordered to return dowry and gold worth 50,000 rupees that were received at the time of Nikah. Subsequently, GulfNews quoted the development:  “We have reached a situation where my wife blocked me on WhatsApp. I could not communicate with her and had to call her father no avail. This is why I am asking my wife to either come back home or return the dowry and gold I gave her.”  More: However, the court had ruled in favour of the Saudi husband. A local publication quotes the Saudi national husband as,  “We have reached a situation where my wife blocked me on WhatsApp.”
