What happened: Saqib Nisar, the former Chief Justice of Pakistan, has called an alleged leaked audio clip, fake and fabricated. In the said audio clip he is instructing to keep Nawaz Sharif and his daughter behind the bars. Details: The audio clip was also provided by journalist Ahmed Noorani. In the clip, Justice Nisar is saying to his subordinates to sentence former prime minister, Mian Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, at the request of “institutions,” as they wanted to bring Imran Khan to ‘power.’ In response to the video, Justice Nisar has said, “I have just listened to this audio, it is fake and has been attributed to me.” He also denied calling a court judge and ordering him to issue a verdict against Sharif and his daughter. What else: The audio clip surfaced only days after Rana Shamim, a former senior judge of the Gilgit-Baltistan Appellate Court, accused Nisar. He said in an affidavt that Nisar said to “keep Sharif and his daughter in prison until the 2018 general elections.”
