What happened: Reporters without Borders (RSF) published a new report for 2021 which details predators of press freedom across the world. This report lists heads of state or governments that restrict press freedom and impose severe censorship. Details: The report justified the listing with alleged cases of interrupted newspaper distribution, control of media outlets and TV channels, and journalists being threatened, abducted and tortured under PM Imran Khan’s government. Along with PM Imran Khan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chinese President Xi Jingping, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad, and Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un are also on the list.
