Rising inflation forces government to double toll tax on motorways 

What happened:  The Shehbaz Sharif-led government plans to collect double tax on motorways that single drivers only use in a bid to curb the rising economic crisis in Pakistan and due to the increasing fuel prices. At the same time, the government is hinting at adapting a plan to allow vehicles on alternative days based on even and odd number plates.  Details:  After the cabinet meeting, Shehbaz Sharif decided to make a committee to discuss the proposals for energy conservation in Pakistan. Tribune quotes the development as,  “provincial governments will be asked to issue a notification for mandatory biannual tuning and inspection of motor vehicles.”  Numerous other proposals are in the pipeline as the government vows to curb the economic crisis in Pakistan before the elections.
