What happened: Karachi police’s chief, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has claimed that the city has over 12,000 habitual offenders who are often involved in crimes, and now to monitor the offenders, the city police have announced to use of tracker bands on them. The tracker would be tied to the offenders’ wrists or ankles to the movement can easily be tracked and alerted when the offender tries to take it off. Details: The development comes in light of a court order stating that the offenders would have to wear a tracker, and a third party would keep an eye on the offenders’ location and activities. The technology of tracking habitual criminals was first used in the UK and the Karachi Police Chief had also claimed that the UK Police were tracking even the offenders in their 20s.
