What happened: On February 2, PTI’s lawmaker Javeria Zafar filed an FIR in the Women police station Islamabad against husband Haider, alleging that he had attempted to kill her threatened her before firing at her. Javeria Zafar is also a Parliamentary Secretary on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development. Dawn quotes the development as, “The man contracted forced marriage with the lawmaker six months ago and she had intended to file a suit for Khula.” Whereas, Javeria claimed that she was threatened and warned of consequences if she proceeded with the application.

Details: However, the FIR stated that Haider pulled a gun on her and fired a shot before Javeria could escape and called the police. At the same time, Javeria urged that Haider would be held responsible if any harm is caused to her or the family.
Legal action: Subsequently, Haider Baloch was arrested by the Islamabad police and was produced before the Judicial Magistrate Malak Aman. The Judicial Magistrate sent Haider to jail for 14-days and directed the Islamabad police to produce the accused on February 16.
