What happened: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Friday the restoration of TikTok’s service in the country. The Chinese social media giant guaranteed that it will regulate “immoral and indecent content” on the app.

Details: The Chinese owned app was banned for the first time in Pakistan in October, 2020. The decision was made in response to concerns about indecent content. After the business told PTA that it would block accounts promoting vulgarity, the ban was lifted 10 days later. This was the fourth time the telecom regulator has removed the platform’s ban. According to PTA, access to the platform was last prohibited on July. They said they have been in contact with TikTok management since then.

More: It went on to say that the social media giant had also promised to block the users if they continued to submit “illegal content” on TikTok. The PTA and TikTok agreed earlier this month to create a process to ensure that any information submitted on the platform was legal and safe for society. On November 4, TikTok Head of Public Policy Helena Lersch met with PTA chairperson retired Maj Gen Amir Azeem Bajwa at the PTA offices to discuss the problem.
