PPP win controversial election for NA 249

Election Results: After a long night of waiting and a very tough competition, PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhail has emerged victorious after securing 16,156 votes. Miftah Ismail of the PML-N missed out on the seat by just 683 votes. The banned outfit TLP’s candidate Nazeer Ahmed came in third place , while PSP’s Mustafa Kamal came in fourth.

PPP celebrate, PTI & PML-N question results: The chairman of the PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sent out congratulatory Tweets on his personal profile and claimed that Karachi was and always had belonged to ‘Bhutto’.

Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi questioned the polling process and called the provincial election commission ‘crooked’. He stated that all those in contention are crying foul except the candidate who was nowhere in the run.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz claimed that the election ‘was stolen’. She said that the Election Commission must investigate because the seat will inevitably come back to PML-N.

She further congratulated Miftah Ismail in a taunting way to other parties on a victory achieved which shall manifest soon.

Low-turnout: Due to a variety of factors that include the widespread of COVID-19 and fasting during the heatwave, the voter turnout was quite low in such a densely populated area for such a contested seat
