PPP former Senator Rehman Malik passes away at 70

What happened: On Feb 23, senior PPP leader and former senator, Rehman Malik passed away in Islamabad due to coronavirus-related complications, according to his spokesperson Riaz Ali Turi on Twitter as he wrote: “Sorrow, pain and grief are indescribable. All are requested to pray for his soul.” Click here to see Turi’s tweet announcing Malik’s demise. Details: The former minister was transferred to a private hospital for treatment earlier this month. According to sources, he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment of pulmonary difficulties that he suffered after contracting Covid-19. Later: His condition, however, continued to deteriorate, and on Feb 1, physicians shifted him to a ventilator. The infection harmed Malik’s lungs, according to the spokesperson as th former senator had been complaining of breathing problems since contracting Covid. Who was Rehman Malik: Malik was a PPP senator who also served as the country’s interior minister from 2008 until 2013. He was also awarded the Sitara-i-Shujaat and the Nishan-i-Imtiaz for his work with the Federal Investigation Agency.
