Details: On Apr 22, journalist Mubashir Zaidi shared a video of policemen taking relief packages home with them which were meant to be for Dadu village fire victims. What happened: The fire in Faiz Mohammad Daryani Chandio Goth claimed the lives of nine persons, including eight children and a woman. The fire completely destroyed the community of around 120 homes. According to the residents, there were no fire engines available to arrive at the scene. Sources told The Express Tribune, that Mehar Town has one fire station but no fire tenders. According to villagers, around 20 people suffered severe burns and were taken to hospitals in Larkana and Mehar Town. Activist and lawyer, Jibran Nasir retweeted the video, stating, “Should we blame these low ranking police officials when they’ve been encouraged & awarded for corruption by their higher up & Govt ministers.” He further said that where ministers have looted billions, are indulged in land-grabbing and value nepotism over merit, this is the ‘inevitable result.’
