Police Register Case Against Doctors For Alleged ‘Torture’ Of Lawyers

On Sunday, Punjab police registered a case against 12 unidentified doctors and paramedics for allegedly torturing some lawyers at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.

Following a clash between lawyers, doctors and paramedics at the PIC, a group of lawyers staged a protest on Saturday in front of Services Hospital, blocking Jail Road. According to PIC sources, the clash was prompted by a lawyer visiting the institute with a relative for a check-up. Later, he was joined by other lawyers while doctors and paramedics came to support the medic. The lawyers allege that three of their colleagues were brutally tortured and injured by the doctors and medics at the PIC. The tortured lawyers are said to be stable. The lawyers further lodged a complaint to the Shadman police department and a case was registered against 12 unidentified persons. The investigating officer said that a medical examination of the injured lawyers would be conducted. He further claimed that although the suspects were unidentified, the victims could identify them via identification parade. He also added that the hospital administration would be called and involved in the investigation following the complaints.
