Speaking to reporters in Lahore after a meeting with the party’s parliamentary committee, the PML-N leader said that the only way forward in face of the ‘political and economic challenges being faced by the country’ is to hold free and fair elections next year.
He said that the onus is on the Election Committee of Pakistan to ensure that the elections be fair adding that his party has decided to strengthen their protests against the government claiming that ‘The government has failed completely’.
He further added that in the Rehbar Committee’s next meeting they will discuss the future course of action as every political party has a plan A, B and C.
Additionally, he claimed that the committee had a detailed discussion of the challenges facing the country including poverty, unemployment, inflation and ‘government breakdown’ in Punjab. He alleged that the infrastructure and all departments in Punjab have been ruined.
He announced that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be leaving the country tomorrow for medical assistance. He criticised the government for creating unnecessary obstacles in Sharif’s travel plans during his illness.
