Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said that because the country cannot afford an indefinite lockdown, the nation would have to learn to live with the pandemic.
At a press briefing along with some cabinet members, the premier said he wanted to tell the country’s medical community that lifting of lockdown was imperative to provide jobs to 25 million informal labourers and workers, who have become jobless due to lockdown.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said on Friday that the government will make wearing face masks mandatory in public places, adding that a notification in this regard will be issued soon.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has also called for lifting of ban from public transport. While Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have agreed to this, Sindh has declined citing spike in coronavirus cases in the province.
