Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that Malik Adnan, who tried to save his Sri Lankan colleague from a mob in Sialkot will be awarded the Tamgha-i-Shujaat (Medal of Bravery). On Friday, the 49-year-old Priyantha Kumara was lynched by his colleagues who accused him of blasphemy.

A new footage surfaced on the internet which revealed Malik Adnan trying to save his SriLankan manager from the mob. He was seen facing a group of enraged men and attempting to defend Priyantha Kumara. The killers among the mob could be heard shouting, ‘He will not escape today,’ while the deceased clung to Malik’s legs and he was bent over in order to shield him. Later, the employees overpowered Adnan and hauled him out onto the road. They then tortured their SriLankan manager with kicks, stones, and iron rods before killing him. The mob then set fire to the body.

While talking to several news channels, Malik Adnan said that there was another man as well who tried to save Priyantha. On asking about the TLP posters, Malik answered, “Our manager couldn’t read Urdu or Arabic, he just asked them to take the posters down as they are unnecessary, customers visit our factory so it doesn’t seem appropriate.” “What if you would’ve gotten killed amid all this?” A reporter asked Malik, to which he said that he could sacrifice his life for Pakistan and to save its reputation.
