Patient with coronavirus breaks out of Afghan quarantine along with others
Dozens of Afghan patients which were held in isolation in a quarantine facility in western Afghanistan escaped after attacking hospital staff and damaging hospital property. The escapees also include one patient who has been confirmed positive for the coronavirus.
The patients escaped with help from relatives, stated Wahid Mayar, spokesman for the country’s Ministry of Public Health.
Afghanistan has till date confirmed 21 cases of the coronavirus, mostly in the province of Herat. The head of the health department of Herat province, Dr Abdul Hakim Tamana, said the 38 people who escaped had all recently returned from Iran.
