As the number of cases in Pakistan continue to rise, it is of the utmost importance that each member of our cricket team takes this matter seriously. Three players, including the Pakistani skipper Babar Azam, willfully ignored said SOPs and played a practice cricket match. This was revealed after video of them playing got uploaded on twitter.

The three players were Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq and Naseem Shah. With the first major tournament since the coronavirus, the Pakistan side has to be extra careful in order to not risk putting the tournament in jeopardy. The English side had already agreed to have the Pakistani team arrive early, so that they could have time to warmup there and refine their skills. The ICC and PCB have both strictly instructed players to take precautions themselves.

The fact that Babar and company were not social distancing was only revealed due to the following video posted on twitter that showed them playing.

The PCB CEO has stated that there shall be no compromise on the players’ health. Even though the upcoming series is a major one for Pakistan, players have been given the option to opt out of the tour if needed.
