Pakistani artsy duo of ‘Bushra-Waqas’ plans to bring a change through arts and vows to make it a compulsory subject

What happened: In an exclusive interview with ProperGaanda, two international artists and the dynamic couple from Pakistan, @iambushrawaqaskhan and @waqaskhaan, shared the importance of art in today’s day and age and how it may play a pivotal role in moulding th young minds. While, talking to ProperGaanda, Bushra Waqas Khan said,  “Art as a whole is considered as an extra subject in schools and mixed up with crafts, but we are planning to change this perception for the masses.”  Their latest project of @nathuuofficial vows to bring a change in the society through arts.  Their new project: Waqas Khan and Bushra Waqas, shared the details of their latest project in collaboration with the SOS Village as they plan to target the kids from the lower class of Pakistan and bring a much-needed change in the society. In partnership with SOS, Bushra said, “By going to the underprivileged areas of Pakistan through this project of @nathuuofficial, we plan to help the youngest of artists in the society fulfil their potential by curating educational art workshops throughout the country.” While talking to Bushra, she also said, “In our country, art is treated as an extra subject, with the project, we want to turn this extra lesson into something super fun and creative.” Above all, she also urged the government to consider adding arts as a vital and mandatory subject till grade 6, quoting the example of India. Bushra-Waqas aims to “Empower children through their quest for all aspects of creativity and art for a variety of reasons, in a variety of contexts, but more importantly to enjoy the journey.” Bushra Waqas Khan: Subsequently, in her interview with ProperGaanda, she said that the country needed a change, and arts can only bring that in. As she said, after her graduation, the power of art enlightened her and how vital it is to teach skills early. At the same time, she highlighted that through Natthu, the dynamic art duo plans to  “Inspire children to have the freedom of expression and help them express their emotions through arts.”  About the couple: Waqas Khan and Bushra shared that they are the parents of 2 fun and creative boys, and their kids became a source of their inspiration to start this initiative. It is pertinent to mention that both Bushra and Waqas are a renowned international artist couple, as Bushra is considered Pakistan’s first  “miniature textile designer.”  On the other hand, the husband, who has an artistic mind and graduated from NCA, draws minimalist ink drawings made from extensive networks of dots and lines that measure less than a centimetre each, as many international artists are already in awe of their work.
