What happened: The renowned artist and calligrapher on February 17 announced that he is working on the world’s largest copy of a gold-plated Holy Quran. He announced the development alongside Anwar Maqsood at a press conference in Karachi as he said, “The pages of this copy are two meters long and 2.6 meters wide.” At the same time, Shahid Rassam highlighted that it took him two years to complete two pages, and “The 550-page version will take another two and a half years to complete.”
Details: Whereas, his project is worth 35 million dollars as the words have been engraved with aluminum and plated with gold. Subsequently, Shahid has urged the local Sindh and the federal government to support his task and fund it to make it easier.
More: It is pertinent to mention that Shahid Rassam noted that canvas was used instead of paper to prepare the Holy Quran. On the other hand, the author Anwar Maqsood said, “The government should help in completing this task. Space is required to set up a museum for display.” Shahid Rassam is a painter as well as a sculptor, and Anwar Maqsood appreciated the artist saying, “His latest offering is not only appreciated by Muslims, but also by those who are drawn to it for its exquisite art value.”
