Pakistan will export cannabis worth $1.5 to $2 billion within two years: Shibli Faraz

What happened: The Minister for Science & Technology, Shibli Faraz said that the production of bhang in Pakistan would help the exports of Pakistan as the world’s cannabis market is estimated at 100 billion dollars. Shibli Faraz also laid out the benefits of cannabis and said,  “It provides medicinal benefit and can also be used in industries especially the cotton industry.”  The minister made another interesting claim as he said,  “BMW and Mercedes Benz also use hemp in their production.”  Details: At the same time, Pakistan has conducted the 1st successful bhang production experiment in Pakistan. Shibli Faraz also highlighted that Pakistan is moving towards self-sufficiency in the yield of high-value crops as the government wants to improve the bhang quality in Pakistan. Also: Shibli Faraz disclosed that bhang plantation in Pakistan is ten times more profitable than the profits that are obtained from the sale of drugs. The minister said,  “A seed of bhang is worth $12 in the international market and encouraging its lawful export will help in the balance of trade.”
