What happened: There is a 13pc food inflation in the country and with increasing food imports Pakistan has become a net-importer of food.

“What the previous government did for the agriculture sector in the last eight to 10 years?” asked Mr Tarin (Finance Minister)

Backstory: Pakistan, an agricultural country, is struggling with wheat and sugar supplies. The agricultural sector has been severely neglected over the past decade or so, compelling us to import around 70pc of pulses into the country.
