Pakistan calls on UN to investigate PM Imran Khan’s phone hack by India

What happened: Pakistan, on Friday, has asked the UN to look into India’s use of Pegasus Spyware to spy on PM Imran Khan. Pegasus Spyware is an Israeli software that has been reported by The Washington Post, among others, to be spying on over 50, 000 “persons of interest”. Details: PM Imran Khan’s phone was also spied on by India during the period 2017-2021. Along with the Pakistani PM’s phone, India was also spying on the phones of several diplomats based in New Delhi. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly condemned India’s spying and surveillance.

The Foreign Office has asked “relevant UN bodies to thoroughly investigate the matter, bring the facts to light, and hold the Indian perpetrators to account”
