What happened: On Friday, Indian and Pakistani armed forces exchanged fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir after Indian army resorted to “indiscriminate and unprovoked” shelling, targeting mainly the civilian areas in AJK.Around 30 civilians and five soldiers are wounded and a total 10 people have lost their lives.
The casualties took place in Neelum Valley and Nauseri sector in Muzaffarabad district and Reshian area of Leepa Valley.

Statements from officials: Both civilian and military institutions have condemned the incident and heavily criticized Indian armed forces.

ISPR in a statement said,
Indian army had resorted to “unprovoked and indiscriminate” fire of all calibres along the LoC “to ward off humiliation before the domestic audience in the wake of casualties at the hands of Kashmiri freedom fighters”.
Foregin Office Pakistan has also issued a statement regarding the incident,
“These egregious violations of international law reflect consistent Indian attempts to escalate the situation along the LoC and are a threat to regional peace and security.

FO spokesperson said,
“Let it be clear to the Indian government that such cowardly acts will not lessen the resolve and determination of the Kashmiri people and they will continue their struggle to bring about an end to illegal Indian occupation of their motherland.
