No right to vote, but non-resident Pakistani businessmen will now have to file returns

What happened:  The Federal Board of Revenue has increased the opportunity of the criteria for becoming the tax resident individuals in Pakistan. The finance ministry announced the Finance Bill of 2022-2023, stating that the non-resident Pakistani business people would now be required to file their income tax returns regardless of their period of stay in Pakistan.  Details:  The development comes through the Finance Act 2019; the definition of a resident individual has been broadened to include an individual who stays in Pakistan  “for at least 120 days during the tax year and who was also present in Pakistan for an aggregate of 365 days or more during the previous 4 years.”
